Duties:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking as needed.

In this hands-on and demanding role, you’ll install water lines, sewer lines and Storm drains using the latest equipment. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a challenging environment and has a sharp eye for QC and safety.
Job Responsibilities
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain underground utilities according to blueprints, specifications, and safety codes.
- Pressure test water lines and force mains.
- Check grades and make sure pipes, manholes, and fitting are installed to the contact specifications and Blueprints using levels or lasers.
- Dig trenches to required depths by hand or using trenching tools. Working hand in hand with the Lead Excavator operators.
- Carry out the site foreman’s directives safely throughout the day. Lead hand requirements.
- Install various sizes and materials of the pipe. PVC/HDPE/Concrete
- Work safely in deep trenches. Having knowledge in working in trench boxes, Manhole cages, and slide rail systems.
- Ability to safely work around excavation equipment including excavators, loaders, packers, and Dozers.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S guidelines and Pidherney’s Inc safety policies and procedures.
- Able to self motivate and lead others.
- Digging around and crossing of shallow utilities in a safe and productive manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years working as a Pipelayer helper or 2 years as a lead pipelayer.
- Knowledge of pipe lasers and transit use
- Ability to read blueprint and city specifications is an asset.
- Strong communicative skills and able to lead a small group or workers with the direction given by the Site Supervisor.
